What is Telepsychiatry

Telepsychiatry and Telemental Health

Telepsychiatry is a branch of telemedicine in which doctors utilize electronic delivery of psychiatric services to patients. Services include psychiatric assessments, therapeutic services, and medication management through video conferencing which is similar to Skype or FaceTime.

The use of technology to deliver psychiatric care makes behavioral healthcare more accessible to

patients who have difficulty getting to a doctor's office due to transportation or health problems, or for whom a mental health condition makes it more difficult to leave the house.

Online therapy, also known as telemental health, is a growing field. A therapist or counselor provides therapy and support over the internet through video conferencing which is similar to Skype or FaceTime or over a telephone call.

Telemental Health may be useful to individuals who cannot leave their home, who work unconventional hours, or for anyone who has difficulty accessing therapy for any reason.

We are pleased to offer online services to our patients and clients!

(Please note that licensing requirements limit our online services to people residing in the states of NC and CA at this time.)
